During the late 19th and the early 20th century a small scale’s industriar infrastructure was developed at Chios. The Second World War, the political changes that took place shortly after, in the Balkans and the eastern Europe - that were traditional markets of the Chian products - as well as the rapid modernization of the industrial output eliminated the Chian industries. Worked Leathers were the main product of the small industries, located mainly in the northen part of Chios town, called Tambakika (Tanneries). The Mills were part of this industrial infrastructure of the the Tanneries, and four of them, recently renoved, are located about 1 Km northen of the town center, built on a small jetty close to the main buildings of the Tanneries. |
