| A cape, inhabited since ancient time. Melanios (=black) (60 Km from the town) is named after the Black Crag are, where during the Slaughter of the Greek from the Turks in 1822 lots of people suffered. Dedicated to their memory, a monument has been built there. Ruins of fortress have been found at Pyrgos Area and the new wind Park of the Public Electricity Company took the place of the old wind mills. The Sunset at the Black Crag (Melena Akra) is one of the best in the Aegean Sea. Local festival on July 17th. |
