"Archodiko, a traditional Mansion is located at Kambos, one of the most characteristic areas of Chios island. It is not near the sea (about 3 km from Karfas, Megas Limnionas, and Agia Fotia beach), but the area of Kambos is ideal relaxing holidays, full or orange tree gardens. The “Archodiko" traditional Kambos Mansion is situated right in the middle of fragrant Kambos. The ancestors of today's owners built Archodiko in 1890, after the earthquake of 1881 which destroyed the initial Genoese tower. Archodiko was left vacant for almost a century until it was totally renewed upholding its old architectural structure. Since then, it is running as a small family hotel.
The building is totally renewed but they keep the style of the old glamorous past. They provide private bathroom, refrigerator, heating and mini bar. In the upper floor, there are big and cozy verandas. The two floors are connected by outdoor stairs.
During your breakfast you have the chance to try special homemade sweets of Ms Kiki as well as grapes, watermelon, melon and other fresh fruits from the orange-garden. Mostly, you will enjoy the wonderful view of Kambos area, sitting at the veranda.
If you prefer an inside area, you may choose the traditional dining room decorated with many old items belonging to the family.
An orange garden of 2.200 trees surrounds Archodiko. Lemon trees, orange trees, olive trees, tsikoudies (local chian trees) and two small grape fields of different selection, indicate a beautiful scenery where you can enjoy a walk in the small alleys under the shadow of the trees, watch and ...why not, participate in the biological cultivation of the orange garden!
The orange garden is a really excellent pattern of traditional Kambos orange gardens that gave to Chios the characterisation of "fragrant island", keeping the, so called, "maggano", a stone well providing fresh water during the year.
Archodiko offers family hospitality and is open all year round.
